You might be wondering what a Cowboy is doing representing First Guaranty Bank, the Best Small Bank in America. If you've heard our recent commercials, this is usually where I say, "I reckon none of that really matters."
But in this case, I reckon it does matter.
So, why don't you pull up a chair, get comfy, and keep reading to learn more about me and how I came to know the fine folks at FGB.
FGB Cowboy Backstory
Our Cowboy's story begins in the Great State of Texas.
He was born and raised in a small town just north of Houston to a family of cattle farmers. So, you could say being a cowboy has been in his blood from the very beginning.
As a child, he learned the ropes of cattle ranching alongside his dad: like riding the open range, rounding up cattle on horseback, and a few lasso tricks here and there. He also learned the value of hard work and virtues like honesty, kindness, and the value of community. It takes a lot to run a successful family farm and our Cowboy has never been one to shy away from hard work.
As he grew up, our Cowboy yearned to travel the open road, feel the wind in his hair, and meet new people (other than cows). So, he saddled up his horse and headed East.
After some time spent chasing sunrise after sunrise and searching for a community that reminded him of home, he happened upon a small town, not unlike the one he grew up in—Hammond, Louisiana.
Hammond is the headquarters of America’s Best Small Bank and it was here at First Guaranty Bank that he felt the closest thing to family since leaving his home state of Texas.

The cowboy now spends his time getting the word out about FGB’s mighty-fine products and services.
